Well, the downside of living alone kicked in. One of the burners on the stove wasn't working, so the gas man has come to fix it, which means I have to sit inside on the first lovely sunny day in ages, while he has pulled the fitted stove out and is bashing about in the kitchen. I can't even get a snack (waiting around makes me hungry) because he's in the kitchen. When I had roommates they always insisted on doing this kind of stuff, because they didn't think my Japanese was up to it, and I never insisted that they let me, because I hate being stuck at home with little to no hope of getting outside within the next few hours (seriously, he's pulled the whole thing out of it's usual place, and I don't hear any burners being checked either).
I was supposed to go to a Japanese lesson, but I must have told the gas company to come after 1, instead of before 1, so I had to cancel it. The international centre has intensive Japanese courses twice a year for 500yen for 10 days of classes. Sweet deal, right? All they ask in return is that you attend 80% of the classes, so I best not have any more gas company related incidents or I'll be shunned from the class. The classes started yesterday, and my class is made up of a few Chinese housewives and the compulsory loud ALT (assistant language teacher, they work in public schools alongside the regulary teachers). Honestly, this one girl had no volume control. Every time she didn't understand something, which was quite often, she would ask her friend next to her, at.full.volume. I'm pretty sure her friend wasn't hard of hearning, so there was really no reason for this. It didn't matter if the teacher was talking or not, she was at full volume every time! Grrr.
Anyway, I think I might go and hover in the kitchen, see if he works faster under pressure.
"Honestly, this one girl had no volume control"
ReplyDeleteBring an old remote control...keep pointing it at the ALT and then blurt out "This GODDAMNED remote's volume button is broken....must be made in China?"
Piss everyone off in one swat :)
Hope he gets it fixed soon!
ReplyDeleteEeeesh, I remember the joys of waiting for repair people.... now I just have to worry about the owner of my sharehouse attempting to repair stuff!
